The SUNIR board brings together community-minded people who oversee the organization and the implementation of its mission.
President
A SUNIR member since May 2023, François worked with volunteers to enable SUNIR's activities to continue in new facilities. He values cooperation and the collective building of a fairer society. His professional career focused on reducing the environmental impacts of human and industrial activities.
Secretary
With a multidisciplinary academic and professional background spanning engineering, international relations and environmental management, Bénédicte is a passionate and versatile person. Long committed to defending the environment, human rights and social equity, she has served on various boards and has continued her involvement with SUNIR for two years, more recently on its board. One of her passions is better understanding human beings; to that end, she contributes to better living together in her institution through the development of intercultural skills for several hundred employees.
Treasurer
A new member of SUNIR's board of directors and a committed volunteer with the organization since its beginnings, he retired from Cégep de Sherbrooke after 33 years of teaching mechanical engineering technology. His professional path led him to contribute to applied research projects and participate in various international solidarity initiatives. Deeply attached to SUNIR's values, he shares its vision of a world founded on solidarity, knowledge transfer and the adoption of more responsible ways of living.
Administrator
A citizen committed to environmental causes since her studies in biochemistry and biology, she puts her experience in marketing communications at the service of water protection, conservation of natural environments and the enhancement of Quebec's parks. Involved with the Rassemblement pour la protection de l'eau des lacs de l'Estrie, Rappel, Les Amis du Parc d'Orford, SOS Parc Orford and Nature Québec, she sits on SUNIR's board of directors, where she puts her expertise in citizen mobilization to work in support of the organization's mission.
Administrator
An infrastructure engineer, she has served on SUNIR's board of directors since its creation. She also served on the board of Renaissance Lac Brome, now Conservation Lac Brome, an organization dedicated to protecting Brome Lake and its watershed. Sensitive to the close links between infrastructure, the environment and communities, she is involved with SUNIR to support a mission focused on the circular economy, reuse and collaboration, helping to build more resilient and sustainable communities.
Activities Coordinator
An entrepreneur and photographer for many years, Anika has always been driven by human connection and mutual aid, which naturally led her to the community sector. She helped support a solidarity grocery initiative in collaboration with volunteer citizens in Sherbrooke. She enjoys bringing people together around meaningful projects and is happy to be part of this new local mutual-aid community in her municipality.
